HCP Architectura

Founded in 1986 by Javier Higuera Yela and Alejandro Pérez, HCP Arquitectos is more than just a large studio. The firm has evolved into a multidisciplinary consultancy offering architectural, engineering and urban planning services.

HCP is headquartered in Malaga and has offices in Madrid and Seville. Outside Spain, it is represented in Bahrain and Nigeria, as well as having partners in Cape Verde, Egypt, Morocco and Romania. It is, therefore, a company that has crossed borders and whose figures show a truly remarkable activity:

• HCP has a team of more than 100 people.
• To date, HCP Architectura's work has been carried out in more than 40 countries
• In its almost four decades of activity, it has been involved in more than 3,000 projects.
• In the residential sector, HCP has built more than 61,000 homes. Among them, those belonging to two Kronos Homes developments.
• Likewise, the studio stands out for its activity in the hotel sector, with 19 hotels in its portfolio.

Founders and architects of HCP

At HCP, the architects and associates who make up the studio's top team are Javier Higuera Yela and Alejandro Pérez, its founders, who were later joined by Mario Romero and José Luis Moreno.

• Javier Higuera Yela. President of HCP Arquitectura e Ingeniería, his work was recognised in 2019 with the Special Mention for Professional Career in the twelfth edition of the Architecture and Interior Design Awards presented by Porcelanosa.
• Alejandro Pérez. Founding partner together with Javier Higuera Yela, Alejandro Pérez, in an interview granted to the programme Proyectar el futuro, reveals that: "in the beginnings of HCP it was clear to us that architecture and engineering should go hand in hand". And he points out that, to a large extent, the company's success is based on "placing the client as a fundamental element within the work process”.
• Mario Romero. An architect partner of HCP, he joined the consultancy in 2001 as coordinator of Execution Projects and Construction Management. In statements to the blog Obra nueva en Málaga, Romero maintains that: "architecture is the art of planning, designing and constructing buildings, modifying the human habitat and studying the aesthetics, good use and function of spaces”.
• José Luis Moreno. He holds the position of general coordinator at HCP, which he joined in 2009. Architect and partner, he has experience in project management and business development in Spain, the United Kingdom, Africa and the Middle East. In the latter region, he is responsible for managing and growing the presence of the Málaga-based studio

When asked about the evolution of the company, Javier Higuera Yela comments on a success story In our origins we were two architects and as many draughtsmen. Now, at HCP, between engineers, architects and town planners, we are more than 100 professionals.

In this progress, he notes that from drawing pencils they moved on to Rotring and, subsequently, to design, engineering, construction and collaborative work software products such as Autodesk and BIM. Tools that help reduce project development times, optimise document management and improve project execution.

Alejandro Pérez told Proyectar el futuro From the beginning we wanted to be HCP, an architectural firm with many people behind it who add value. We wanted to generate a brand and for it to last over time. At the time, this conception of our studio was totally new in the sector and a further point of differentiation”.

Works with Kronos Homes

HCP Arquitectos has extensive experience in the design of residential developments where access, distribution and interior light - thus favouring sustainability -, views and quality are paramount. A way of understanding architecture that has been reflected in two Kronos Homes developments in Málaga –a province in which the property developer has built other new construction projects such as The Edge, designed by Rafael de La-Hoz–.
