HCP Arquitectura, founded in Malaga in 1986, has grown to become a global practice offering architectural, engineering and urban planning services. Over the course of a successful career, its multidisciplinary team has carried out more than 3,000 projects in more than 40 countries, including residential, hotel and commercial areas. Between them, they have built more than one million square metres and define themselves as a company committed to excellence in design, innovation and sustainability.
At Kronos Homes, we have had the pleasure of witnessing this recently during the design process of One Oak by Kronos Homes, in Torremolinos, and, a few years ago, in Panorámica by Kronos Homes, located in Fuengirola. Two exclusive projects whose design and quality make them a residential reference in their respective locations and which are joined by other landmarks of the studio, such as the White Sands hotel complex on the island of Boa Vista, the Aerocity complex in Cairo or the Antonio Gala Theatre in Alhaurín el Grande. A portfolio of successes that endorses its architectural quality and its capacity to adapt to each environment without renouncing aesthetic uniqueness.
The founders of HCP Arquitectura are Javier Higuera Yela and Alejandro Pérez. Both have a solid academic and professional curriculum and very clear ideas about the distinctive factor that their studio can contribute: the importance of integrating architecture and engineering in each project.
With this, not only do they support their own philosophy and way of understanding architecture, but they are also capable of approaching the work from a double perspective, a variety of approaches that must inevitably converge to give rise to a unique vision, impeccable in its most technical facet and full of content in its most emotional aspect.
Founded in 1986 by Javier Higuera Yela and Alejandro Pérez, HCP Arquitectos is more than just a large studio. The firm has evolved into a multidisciplinary consultancy offering architectural, engineering and urban planning services.
HCP is headquartered in Malaga and has offices in Madrid and Seville. Outside Spain, it is represented in Bahrain and Nigeria, as well as having partners in Cape Verde, Egypt, Morocco and Romania. It is, therefore, a company that has crossed borders and whose figures show a truly remarkable activity:
To sum up, one million square metres of built space bear the signature of HCP Arquitectos. A company that defines itself as "author of iconic buildings and committed to excellence in design, innovation and sustainability”.
At HCP, the architects and associates who make up the studio's top team are Javier Higuera Yela and Alejandro Pérez, its founders, who were later joined by Mario Romero and José Luis Moreno.
When asked about the evolution of the company, Javier Higuera Yela comments on a success story In our origins we were two architects and as many draughtsmen. Now, at HCP, between engineers, architects and town planners, we are more than 100 professionals.
In this progress, he notes that from drawing pencils they moved on to Rotring and, subsequently, to design, engineering, construction and collaborative work software products such as Autodesk and BIM. Tools that help reduce project development times, optimise document management and improve project execution.
Alejandro Pérez told Proyectar el futuro From the beginning we wanted to be HCP, an architectural firm with many people behind it who add value. We wanted to generate a brand and for it to last over time. At the time, this conception of our studio was totally new in the sector and a further point of differentiation”.
As for Mario Romero, he adds in the blog Obra nueva en Málaga that: “giving value to the true meaning of architecture implies fulfilling three principles: beauty, firmness and utility. As for Mario Romero, he adds in the blog Obra nueva en Málaga that: "giving value to the true meaning of architecture implies fulfilling three principles: beauty, firmness and utility. Executed with the professionalism demanded by our clients, this allows us to be more than just a studio: an architecture and engineering consultancy”.
As for José Luis Moreno, he told Arquitectura y Empresa: “HCP is like a family where everyone pitches in when there is a problem. We have managed to combine experience and youth. And to form a multidisciplinary, dynamic and committed team with qualities and knowledge to develop competitive, solvent and honest projects”.
According to HCP, the studio respects the essence of architecture According to HCP, the studio respects the essence of architecture as the origin and destination of each project it undertakes. This work currently ranges from residential buildings to the comprehensive planning of territories or large-scale commissions, including hotels and buildings for commercial, cultural, student, health and technological use…
It is certainly difficult to choose the best projects of HCP. But the following selection gives an idea of the magnitude of his work built or presented both inside and outside Spain:
HCP Arquitectos has extensive experience in the design of residential developments where access, distribution and interior light - thus favouring sustainability -, views and quality are paramount. A way of understanding architecture that has been reflected in two Kronos Homes developments in Málaga –a province in which the property developer has built other new construction projects such as The Edge, designed by Rafael de La-Hoz–.
In the case of One Oak, it is a complex located on a promontory that offers magnificent panoramic views of Torremolinos and the coast.
And as for Panorámica, in Fuengirola, its aesthetic forcefulness is based on undulating lines reminiscent of the waves of the sea and the profile of the Malaga coastline on the Mediterranean.
In short, One Oak and Panorámica represent a breath of fresh air in the architecture and residential offer on the Costa del Sol. Two quality residential developments with the seal of Kronos Homes and HCP Arquitectos.
